The Foundation
The foundation to our fitness and health consist of our nutrition and lifestyle choices/factors.
Before our current times, we humans were more mobile and did plenty of hard, physical work for the majority of our day.
In our post-industrial world today, we find ourselves more sedentary and more likely to have access to ultra-processed and sugar-laden products to consume.
Because of that we find the need to manufacture hardship and movement by going to gyms and fitness centers, and having the need for professional guidance from a coach or trainer.
Consider this perspective, looking through a lens with a filter of our current, post-industrial society:
23 out of the 24 hours of our day (95.83%) are now devoted to sleep, stress management, hydration, nutrition, career and work responsibilities, and everyday life activities.
The 1 out of the 24 hours of our day (4.17%) is now devoted to exercise in a gym with a coach or trainer.
Because we are more sedentary and have more access to not-as-healthful “food,” this makes the 4.17% of our time spent even more critical. We use that 1 hour to try to make up for the lack of movement during the other 23. We try to learn and implement the guidance (or what little of it) on nutrition from our coach or trainer, then, as well.
Discussing the need to eat the right portions and amounts, and kinds of food during a high-intensity interval training session is too ineffective and distracting.
This necessitates even more time needed to devote to learning, planning, and executing healthy nutrition, then.
Tying this back to the 95.83%: most of us are not hitting on all cylinders during our day because we do not have our sleep, stress management, hydration, nutrition, career and work responsibilities, and everyday life activities all in check and harmonizing with each other.
We all need help and guidance with those pieces of our 23 hours to get us moving in the right direction, optimally.
To be able to optimize the results we want from the 4.17% of our well-intentioned time to lose body fat, gain muscle, and be fit and healthy, we need to emphasize and capitalize on the 95.83%.
Nutrition and Lifestyle Coaching is the key to help set a solid foundation of the 95.83%, for our 4.17% to be built on.
We have it covered with Fitness coaching, regarding the teaching, learning, practicing, and training of the movements we do in the gym.
Now, we have to emphasize the Nutrition and Lifestyle coaching.
This is why we are doing individual monthly Nutrition and Lifestyle Goal Setting Check-ins.
With our Goal Setting Sessions and Check-ins, it provides more time to devote to refining our sleep, stress management, hydration, nutrition, career and work responsibilities, and everyday life activities harmonization strategies, to ultimately move the needle to better Fitness and Health, faster than just focusing on the 4.17%, or 1 hour in the gym, alone.
These Sessions and Check-ins provide for more accountability and coaching along our Fitness and Health journey, which will lead to better results, quicker.
